Russian Riverkeeper updates Sonoma County Coastal beaches weekly based on sample results from the Department of Health Services. A beach will be marked red when Total Coliform exceed 1,000 (if Fecal/Total is > .1) or 10,000 (if Fecal/Total is < .1) OR when Fecal Coliform exceeds 400 per 100 ml OR when Enterococcus exceeds 104 per 100 ml. Sonoma County Department of Health Services monitors 7 coastal beaches weekly between April 1 and October 31.These beaches are visited by 50,000 people per year and are adjacent to storm drains, creek or rivers.
